Cruciferous Vegetables : What are those, you may be asking yourself? These vegetables include cabbages, cauliflower, broccoli, kale, turnips, Brussel sprouts, radishes and watercress. They assist the body in fighting against toxins and against cancer. You should be aiming to consume at least 40 ounces of cruciferous vegetables a day! You can eat them raw or cooked, but buy fresh. If you must cook them, cook as little as possible to ensure that the healthy enzymes remain intact.
Garlic : How many people in this world love garlic? I happen to be one of them. I can’t get enough of it and I put it in everything! Garlic has so many wonderful qualities, I couldn’t possibly list them all! Eating just one clove of garlic a day, helps protect the body against cancer and heart disease. Not to mention that garlic naturally fights of infection and fungus. One study shows that women who ate garlic just once per week were 50 % less likely to develop colon cancer. Another study proves that consuming garlic supplements on a regular basis is even more effective than taking an aspirin when it comes to thinning blood.
Ginger : Ginger is a spicy root with an unforgettable taste! Eating it can help prevent headaches as well as help boost your digestive system. It’s also great for your circulatory systems. This makes ginger very useful for older adults. In some cases, consuming ginger on a regular basis will help alleviate rheumatic aches and pains.
Nuts : There are many different varieties of nuts to choose from and most of them are good sources of minerals! Walnuts and brazi nuts are particularly good! Walnuts are extremely high in calories, however, they are also rich in potassium, magnesium, iron, zinc, copper and selenium. Just add nuts to your daily diet by sprinkling them on salads and desserts to enhance your digestive and immune system. The Egyptians swore that eating just five almonds a day was the secret to living a long and healthy life. Nuts can also help control levels of good cholesterol. Avoid eating rancid nuts, but eat plenty of good nuts to prevent cancer and stay young!
Soya : Eating soya helps to maintain estrogen levels, which can be helpful for women who are going through menopause. The flesh contains Vitamin A, B and C and the seeds contain selenium, essential fats, zinc and Vitamin E. These all help against free radical damage and fight against the signs of aging.
Water : Water is your final miracle anti-aging food! Make sure to drink at least 8 glasses of water a day. Your body is made up of 80 % water, so you have to lose very little water in order to notice it. Thirst isn’t necessarily your only means for letting you know if you need to drink some water. You can get plenty of fluids from food too! You can also get it from frozen yogurt, gelatin, soups, watermelon and lettuce.
